Solar Car Displays

A display in the chatsood mall. When not talking about renewable energy, we were making those little trucks you can see sitting on the front of Sunswift II.
These displays were part of the NRMA technology roadshow, where the NRMA showcases next generation transport.
Basically, standing around answering peoples questions about transportation, solar energy, etc etc. These things are great fun.
A top view- Prius at left, LPG powered NRMA truck at top, Sunswift II at bottom, and the Chisholm EV at right.

On our way up for World Solar Challenge '03, we stopped at many towns along the way and pulled out the car to chitchat with the locals.
Me, talking about solar power or something with the locals. Don't recall what town this was in. It's a lot of fun to talk to normal folks about tech stuff.
In the back right is our trailer.
This was at CeBIT Australia. Through some arrangement, we were ablt to stand around CeBIT and talk to people all day- This got us some sponsorship deal. It's an incredible educational experience talking at these things. We had railroad engineers, engine designers, RF equipment people, etc coming to ask questions.

Don't remember his name, but between Owen and I is a former Sunswifter that started with Sunswift I, back in '96. Rumor has it that this gentleman may have at one point been successful with the line, "So, you wanna see my solar car?"
It pleases me if people seem amused- Jo looks amused, at center, but Josh looks like he is about to question something I said. We had some very lively conversations at this.
Jo, one of the teams chief organizers and smart mechanical engineering women, explaining with a smile.
Perhaps not the best photo of it, but my arm's around the wheelmotor, and between the three of is is the elec display board- Sunswift II's custom-designed telemetry system, on display to prove how cool we are.

Scott at CeBIT- This guy is smart, cooky, and very interesting. He once described himself as an overqualified theatre tech, which is very similar to where I see myself in the grand scheme of things.
