Australia Experience Photo Page
Background information
Welcome, fellow world inhabitants, to a set of photos that summarize the 2003-2004
year of my life I spent studying abroad in at University of New South Wales,
Sydney, Australia. I chose to study abroad for a
number of reasons, including seeing some more of the world, learning to scuba dive,
and participating on a solar car team. I got to do all that, and more. The following
sections are not in chronological order, partially because I can not precisely remember
when things happened, and partially because it just doesn't matter. Click on each
photo for a set of photos having to do with that experience.
Note for people that may want to travel and want to do websites- Digital cameras are
_very_ nice. Most of these pictures were scanned in after the fact, and I lost several
rolls of film due to a postoffice stuff-up. Digital cameras also save money in the end.
Photo developing gets expensive, especially looking back and noticing all the
totally lousy and ridiculous photos I took.
I know this is not a complete set of pics from everyone, and I know there are certain people I talked with a lot whose photos I don't have or whose names I have omitted- Those of you who know me know just how bad I am remember names and places. Please email me your updates and infos if there is anything wrong. Additionally, if you want these pics, download them- I have bigger versions of most of them if you would like to try printing or whatever.

Falsettos
These photos were taken while I volunteered
to help out with the New Theatre's performance of Falsettos,
a pretty good musical about the beginnings of AIDs in the US. I will not give out a plot summary- Google
can help with that. I was a lighting assistant and board op for this show.
There are many more photos I should have taken of this.
MuttiVisit
What over seas trip would be complete without a visit from your mother? It is actually quite nice-
We did not have the cash for a family visit, but if you can have your family visit when you go abroad,
I highly recommend it. Very nice to see a family member while overseas for a long while.
OutDoors
Australia is a bloody big country. It is actually very near the size of the continental United States,
but with a population less than 1/10 of what the US has. Driving through the middle, there isn't much of anything.
This section has photos from the January Reef Trip, my stopover in Fiji,
and some caving photos. Unfortunately, I do not have photos from the 12 hours lost-in-the-forest wanderings courtesy
of Good and Evil adventures, but hey- I will have to go back and take more photos.
Parties
Wee-haw! There's nothing quite like a nice set of shindigs to keep one amused.
There were a large number of parties going on, and the Australians sure know how to through a good party.
I should have taken my camera with me more, looking back. There are three sections here, two for big parties we
had at our flat, and then some other party pics, which are random photos at parties with nice folks. I'd like to thank
whoever supplied the photos of the debaucherous party- My film all went away due to the post office.
Friends
One of the good things about going abroad is that you have great opportunities to meet other people,
but also that you are in fact forced to meet other people, and expand your horizons.
In this section are photos of people I met in Australia, many of whom I try to keep in touch with.
Places
This section consists of photos of different places, including the University of New South
Wales and where I lived.
Not quite as many photos as I would have hoped, but hey- I didn't get to travelling as much as I would have liked.
PVPeople
While in Australia, I was studying photovoltaics. This section consists of people I met through the school
of PV, which graduated its first class ever. It is a new school, for an emerging industry, and has a lot of
interesting and unique people in it.
SolarCar- UNSW Sunswift II / III
I spent a fair amount of time working on UNSW Sunswift II and UNSW Sunswift III.
This section consists of photos of solar car stuff. I have quite a few photos of this,
but check out www.sunswift.com to know what is really going on.
Great group of people, working on an interesting project.
